The effects of cognitive map building on the development of Alzheimer's disease Lead Investigator: May Yuan Institution : University of Texas at Dallas E-Mail : myuan@utdallas.edu Proposal ID : 1203 Proposal Description: The proposed study hypothesizes that regular mental exercises on cognitive map building can sustain hippocampal activation and therefore delay AD onset and decelerate AD progression: (1) to compare georeferenced AD populations in geographic areas with different degrees of spatial complexity and (2) to compare AD populations with occupations of highly dependency on cognitive maps, such as realtors, urban planners, police officers, first responders, and the other occupations.
